Yesterday I had the priviledge to see the Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestra perform. It was a fantastic performance (unfortunately I didn't take any photos). They are the oldest philharmonic orchestra in South Africa.
It is such a pity that art and cultural activities aren't really supported in South Africa (the auditorium was half-empty!). Most cultural activities are performed in Johannesburg in places like Monte Casino. (Luckily the Orchestra performed in the ZK Matthews hall in the University of South Africa's Pretoria campus.)
Nevertheless it was truly a delight to hear young (and older) talent in a great orchestra, especially when you see each and every musician playing with passion.
